'Sting' Operation at Campal in full swing This is what I call real STING operation..
I am neither a MP nor MLA, don't know why I was also targeted. If you visit Campal, you could be a easy target too (including children). Attackers are not from local TV but a big army of 'Stinging Ants' Thinking of taking your children to Campal Park ? You better think twice.. We were sitting on a bench under the shade of the Campal beach/garden trees. I was stung thrice, twice on the same bench and once on the other bench under the beach hut and that too within one hour. There were others who complain about the same ants.. Stings from this Ants (see pic) is like those of bees & wasps, are very painful for the first one hour or so. Then local swelling which could last more than 3 days. Locals there told me it will last about 24 hrs but mine lasted over 36 hours and the area around was itchy. I was stung on my hand just below the elbow and the swelling was so huge that every one asked me about it (after noticing the swelling). Don't know if different people bodies react differently. On the same bench I was stung on my knee (through my trouser) and behind my neck on the other bench. I wonder how the children would react to this painful sting as many children come there to play in the Campal Children Park and the agressive ants are every where including the play areas. I have immediately stopped ours visiting the park which was their favourite park. I have never seen such ants in my life in Goa, they have purple colour head and back/tail (see pic). When asked a local there, I was told they are locally named as 'Khot muyo' These ants are as big as Red ants 'Tamddio Muyo' or harmless 'Dhodde' Other 'Muyo' I remember are fast running 'Eulam' found in sugar Jars etc, 'Orxe bhonkachio muyo' usually found on Guava Trees Any one from Entomology ?
