Eddie Fernandes wrote to our Liz ( different from Elizabeth R., I assume)

Dear Elizabeth

.....please respond to my other question:

Do you believe in Maharashtra for the Maharashtrians, India for the Indians,
Arabian Gulf for the Arabs, England for the English etc?

=====  jc's response

Mogal Eddie,

Good Morning from here. I hear that it is sweater weather 'in rerum natura'
under the Queen's peace i.e. in the land of Elizabeth R.; It's hurricane hot
here ...so pardon the hot air (:-)

I found your question quite intriguiging. Forgive me if I do the Bill
Clinton (never mind Mario and Viviana) and say ....Depends on what one means
by the word English or Englishman....Indian, Goan etc.

Am I correct in writing that at this moment, except perhaps in cricket,
Football et al, there isn't a political entity called England i.e. with an
English Parliament, 'Gorrment' etc. It's more like British, is it not?

I'd say that those who hold British nationality are British, and those who
hold Goan or Maharashtrian 'ration cards are Goans or Maharashtrians. Would
you disagree?

How would you classify yourself Eddie? I'll always considered you as being a
proper English Gentleman, but are you British or not? So... should you not
have more rights in Britain and the EU than someone from outside the EU ?

re: 'Arabian Gulf for the Arabs' ...please vide infra. That I believe is
presently shared by the Arabs and Persians

good wishes

on behalf of Elizabeth (not) R

The Arabian Gulf, or al-Khaleej al-Arabi is a shallow body of water, with a
maximum depth of 360 feet
