In rerponse to an Eddie Fernandes post, I had written this :< How would you classify yourself Eddie? I'll always considered you as being > a proper English Gentleman, but are you British or not? So... should you not have more rights in Britain and the EU than someone from outside the EU ? >
Bosco RESPONDED thus : < A mis-characterized comparison, as has occured several times on Goanet. Comparing Goa, a state within the Republic of India, with Britain. For comparison sakes, we should probably enquire, do Bavarians have enhanced rights than Hamburgers who live in Bavaria (Germany)? > jc response: There is a phrase in Hindi which goes thus " Khudne ke pahile acchi turreh se dhekh loh". I'd humbly suggest that Bosco please review Eddie's post before quoting a response to it, and calling anything ..... a so called "A mis-characterized comparison". If he is calling Eddie's post a "A mis-characterized comparison", I suggest that he quotes that segment of Eddie's post to make his point. In any event, Bosco's "Bavaria" example makes zero sense whether it be in the context of the EU today, or in the case of Indian States today - where many rights are based on "10-15 year domicile" prerequisites. I'd give him one more example and allow Bosco to conceptualize the disparity for himself: vide Kashmir. A Kashmiri can come to Goa and buy property ...can he not? Can a Goan buy property in Kashmir - unless it is a Goan female married to a Kashmiri male? Is this what happens in Bavaria or Hamburg or in Londres? BTW: There was a "Housing" chap in Goa by the name of Behl. I understand that during his tenure, Goans could not buy property in Goa ...because "they already had property" ! No wonder he was kicked back to where he came from ...in a hurry. If someone in the know .... believes this is not true ....he may wish to advise us. have a good week ...all jc please visit "NEW" on The Goan Forum at http://www.colaco.net _______________________________________________ Goanet mailing list [email protected] http://lists.goanet.org/listinfo.cgi/goanet-goanet.org
