EQUAL SATUS FOR ROMAN SCRIPT KONKANI.
As per the latest reports appearing from Goa, Churchill Alemao has also
openly and firmly demanded equal status for Roman script Konkani on par with
Devanagri.
On behalf of KUWAIT KONKNNI KENDR we also demand this equal status for Roman
script Konkani and strongly support Churchill Bab in this move along with
Adv. Radarao Gracias and all his colleague.
We at KKK also demand revival of Konkani Porjecho Avaz which was the
movement of sincere Konknnivadis and not of Konknni Chor who robbed
Romivadis of their due share. To hell with Pundalik Naik and his
colleagues. KPA is not the monopoly of Pundalik Naik, Uday Bhembro, Dilip
Borker, Shivdas Naik and their likes. KPA belongs to all of us. If
necessary, go ahead with KPA minus the traitors of Konkani. KPA became a
force to reckon with only because of the association and support of
Romivadis like me.
We at KKK support all the tiatrists who are now come forward to pilot the
cause of Romi Konkani.
So also Babush Monserate for his total support for this cause.
Let all the writers and tiatrists campaign against Adv. Uday Bhembre for the
betreyal of Romi Konkani. I never knew he could turn into such a Judas.
Boycott him from all our circles and boycott his profession too. These
Nagrivadis will be worst than Marathivadis. To challenge Marathivadis will
be easy but not these Devanagrivadis because "our enemies are within
ourselves" and this we came to know very late.
Dalgado Academy and others should now come forward and hold meetings in all
the constiuencies of the MLAs who are opposing the cause of Romi Konkani
e.g. Narvenkar etc. Also hold meetings in the constituencies of the MLAs
who are keeping silence on this subject, e.g. Sardinha, Luizin etc. Let the
Romivadi voters know the chickanery of their representatives and let the
voters know how they are being taken for a ride by their crook MLAs.
MLAs like Narvenkar, Rane and Ravi Naik will never change their MGP stand.
They are born MGPs and they will die as symphatisers and supporters of MGP
causes. Tivimkars and Aldonkars must now know the true colours of
Narvenkar.
Once again on behalf of KKK I support Churchill Alemao, Radarao Gracis,
Babush Monserate, Dr. Willie, Tiatrists, Dalgado Academy and everyone who
are fighting for the cause of Romi Konkani. Our representative and vice
president of KKK Mario Rebello is already in Goa and he will meet the
supporters and campaigners of Romi Konkani and personally convey our support
to them.

Margao, Jul 8: South Goa MP Churchill Alemao has demanded that the
government should pass a Bill of amendment to the Official Language Act so
as to recognize Konknni in Roman script therein along with Devanagari, in
the coming assembly session.
Romi script is the backbone of Konknni language. Most of the Goans use
Romi script to write, and also Romi script has played a major role in tiatr
field. But they are always sidelined. They are not getting the facilities
and schemes, which Devanagari writers get. To preserve Konknni in the
state, Romi script should be included in the Official language. It is a
todays need, said Alemao, while addressing a press conference in a city
hotel.
Alemao also told that under the banner of 'Konknni Porjecho Avaz they
would hold the meetings to chalk out plans if the government failed to meet
their demand of giving equal status to Romi script along with Devanagari.
Alemao also promised that he would take further steps to have Konknni
language introduced for official work in Goa.
Dalgado Konknni Akademi president Wilson Mazarello also demanded that
equal status should be given to Romi script along with Devanagari.
"A hundred years ago, nobody was writing in Devanagari script. The Romi
script has the history of 400 years. Today Goans mostly use Romi script to
write not Devanagari, for which we want the government should give equal
status to Romi script along with Devanagari," said advocate Radharao
Gracias.
Romi script can unify all the Konknni people who stay across India, as
most of the people use Romi script, advocate Gracias further said.
Pratap Naik and eminent artistes of Tiatr field were present at the
press conference, who reiterated that the government should give equal
status to Romi script along with Devanagari, for the betterment and
development of Konknni language.
