With Goa going to the Assembly polls next year the
political carnival will soon begin.
You can expect the realignment of political pressures
and to see politicians performing like jumping frogs
as they switch from party to party.
In the last few years Goa has been politically very
unstable. The Goan politicians have even invented the
way to circumvent the Anti-defection law. It all began
with the bye-election at Poinguinim and the recipe was
copied in neigbouring Maharastra by Narayan Rane who
got the Shiv Sena MLAs to resign and re-contest on
Congress tickets.
It is said that the way to a man's heart is through
his stomach, it seems the way to a person's vote also
takes the gastronomic route.
In preparation for the elections the candidates will
start sponsoring sports tournaments and attending
every possible birth, marriage, birthday and funeral
ceremonies as a path to getting votes. Unfortunately
this is all what politics is all about.
