Here is a feedback I received from a friend of mine in Mumbai...I too
believe that the communication
lines were not jammed by the police but mostly by callers outside India.
When I got the news
around 6.40..I made 5-6 calls and all lines were free....edward

I do pay my respects to all those who died in the blasts for no fault of
theirs. I wish all those being treated in various hospitals a speedy
recovery. My harbour line local pulled into Mahm Junction there was a green
signal but the train refused to move. I smelt a rat. Calls reached everyone
confirming the worst. I was worried how to reach home at Dahanukar Wadi,
Kandivili West. After sevral attempts the motorman halted the train. There
were people all over the tracks at Mahim towards Bandra. I collected a few
friends and told them that we could line up for the BEST at Mahim bus depot
before it is over crowded. From the foot over bridge I could see the Virar
fast First Class ripped open. I too hold a first class pass but travel
second class - because of the arrogance of some of the first class
passengers who try to occupy more space than they are paying for. Instead of
fighting with them, I travel second class, where I am very comfortable. I
hate the arrogant attitude of some of the first class commuters. They have
money but they do not have a heart. They have degrees but no education, they
are highly paid but lack decency in public places. They behave as if they
own the railways. They do not think that the other person also has paid the
railways equal amount and most of them are not paying from their pockets -
their employers are paying!
I reached the Mahim bus depot and boarded a bus which took E.E.Highway to
Borivili. From around 7pm. I stood in the crowded bus to about 11 p.m. I was
getting calls from all over the world. My sister called from New Delhi,
neohew from Malad and friend from Bhayandar. But I could not make any calls
to my wife, my colleages in the office.
My wife was stuck in KEM Hospital. She finished her duty at 7.30pm. But by
then the mutilated bodies and seriously injured were being brought. She
being a senior staff, was asked to do emergency duty. The Matron, the Dean
and Head of various departments were in attendance. I could not contact her
at all. After I reached home after 11 p.m. I found that my land line was
working. I called my bosses that I was safe. I called KEM Hospital and the
Matron assdured me that my wife was safe in the hospital andn was on
emergency duty.
She reached home next morning, visibly shaken by the sight of blood, death,
mutilation, loss of limb, loss of lips, jaws. I did not leave her alone at
home. I could have gone to work to prove the highly romanticized 'spirit of
Mumabi, bouncing back, and resilience of Mumbai'. I stayed with her at home
to give some moral support.

Today I join the First Citizen and salute those who lost their lives to the
evil plans of terrorists and I pray that God may save us from local
terrorists and inactive politicians, railway, municipal and government
officials.
Let good sense prevail. Let Mumbaikars learn to live.
