Cornel,
The people who excluded tailors from the Goan
Institutes in E. Africa are here on this net.
Fortunately, they are not still in control of the E.
African clubs.

The St. Xavier's Societies in Tanzania, on the other
hand, have morphed into the focal point for Goans in
times of emergencies. For example, they handle all the
burial procedures/permits when a Goan dies. The SFX
Society in Dar es Salaam does not require a Goan to be
a member before s/he can avail of their services. The
Society essentially looks after anyone who requests
their services.

I was real happy to read about the Goans in Zanzibar
organizing a show in Dar. Over the years, these shows
and sports trips have lead to the young people from
the different towns meeting and these meetings have
often lead to marriages.

I am guessing that Rene, in his usual zeal to promote
all things Goan, forwarded the post he received in
good faith.
