Part I - response to Elisabeth
Part II - response to Bosco
Response to Bosco regarding "unanswered questions" will be another post.

Why does a society develop "cultural and social norms" at the given time?
Irrespective of which society and religion developed these norms, they were
developed to meet a perceived need, the lack of which was harmful to the
society. And the fact these norms have endured generations, to me suggest,
the norms have passed "the test of time". This is more proof positive of their
value, than some modern theoretical constructs.

Today's theorists and liberals come up with new ways of doing things. These new
ways (cultural practices) don’t even survive a couple of decades, because these
norms cause major problem of their own. Yet instead of admitting their failure,
the "very intelligent" academics and social thinkers, go down the same path to
create more solutions / problems to solve our immediate needs. Of course they
get paid to do so. The best examples are the EASY - divorce, abortion and
sexual mores in modern society. These social issues have created more problems
than solved. Yet, let's not tell that to the liberal, sophisticated, academic
do-gooders.

In the medical field, instead of encouraging families to take care of their
terminally ill relatives, the experts today are trying to develop a new system
to care for the dying. Partly its because today's moral codes do not think that
(the family caring for their terminally ill) is important. Of course the
individuals coming-up with the system are getting paid for the system they
develop; while society has to work harder (two-earner families) to pay those
taxes for the "new system". Taxes from two-earner families are not enough for
all these social services. So in the west, we are borrowing from our children
and grandchildren creating a "National Debt".

Moral, Religious, Civil and Criminal codes do not codify the normal things of
our human nature - i.e. eat, sleep etc. It codifies its abuse, as we could /
do abuse a good thing. Man's thought-process has a selfish, biological,
emotional response, especially when it comes to survival, threats, "the chips
are down" and a desire to be self-centered. Left to their own-self, an
individual human will create their own "rules" and "codes" to suit their
personal self with the "might is right" philosophy. This even applies to
intelligent men and women. That's why the framers of the US Constitution wanted
a three-party balance of power. In Europe, they got rid or severely restrained
the King / Queen. This was the alpha male and alpha female who abused their
status for immediate-personal-selfish reasons. Communism and Nazism found the
need to indoctrinate its masses on its own version of "moral codes" which
suited those in power.
Kind Regards, GL
