So much has changed vis-a-vis castesim in Goa and elsewhere. here on holidays in my good old toronto i learnt of Goan boys marrying outside the community. this ex-east africa family with "brahim' status had objected to their daughter marrying a lower caste goan, but now their two sons have recently married a guyanese and a East European. a recent issue of Toronto Star carried a story on the "new metis", the trend of inter-racial marriages. though the issue covered not just native indians but some other communities, some native indians wrote letters to the editor objecting to the use of the word "metis" to describe children of inter-racial marriages. over the next decade, a whole new generation of children of mixed parentages will be evident in Canada and also in UK and USA.
