Santosh and Cornel, Finally we will get to the historical truth. I have quoted and posted history written by contemporary historians. Did you read the e-history book on Goa whose references I posted? I guess you did, as finally you are also asking questions.
Let me also add to the request you-two have made, of Goan historians with web pages about Goa's inquisition. Teotonio De Souza has informed me that his quotes were taken totally out of context and inserted into one web-editor's very negative version of the inquisition. And this was done to suggest that the whole write-up was by Teotonio De Souza. Now we have to see what Dr. Jose Colaco of "The Goan Forum" and Alfred De Mello have to tell us about their "write-ups". Thanks Santosh for your carefully worded statement (as usual) about: "The chapel near the Dhovi Khopti ...." Marlon Menezes and Cornel Da Costa are you reading?:=)) Hope you do not misinterpret Santosh's writings, like you misrepresent mine. Kind Regards, GL ---------- Santosh Helekar: The same is true with regard to his suggestion that temples were not razed to build churches. The chapel near the Dhovi Khopti in IRC might not actually be the temple of Chimolkaann from Marcel. But the burden is on others, especially the professional historians, to prove Gilbert wrong, if, indeed, he has not been joking all along. Unless they do so one would have to assume that he is right. Cheers, --- cornel <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: I am not aware that anyone on Goanet has really attacked Catholicism as you imagine. In contrast, however, you seem to have gone on and on dismissively arguing with little firm evidence that, only exceptionally might temples have been destroyed and Catholic Churches built on them in Goa. Also, your position on the Inquisition in Goa is highly questionable to me and others but I was definitely not dismissive of your position on these issues. I even politely suggested that you may indeed be right but that the issue should be left to professional historians to resolve rather than perhaps an amateur 'historian' like your good self. _______________________________________________ Goanet mailing list [email protected] http://lists.goanet.org/listinfo.cgi/goanet-goanet.org
