Actually, a well thought out, master plan for Goa's development is an
absolutely crucial necessity. In fact, this should have been done ages ago,
but better late than never. Our development should focus on the interests of
Goa and Goans, on keeping the Goan community intact, also using our land
wisely, defining what DEVELOPMENT should mean for Goa and Goans and ensuring
that our traditional occupations do not perish and that the depressed
sections of our community are able to survive economically.. I am sure none
of us are too happy with the direction Goa has moved in since liberation.
Since some of you have very strong views on what can be done for Goa, is it
possible to meet together around the table to work out a road map for
development, in the shape of a White paper, which we could than make it a
basis to lobby with the Government of the day on specific issues?.
If anyone is interested and willing, we could do the organising and setting
up of the meeting. This would be something concrete that we could do for
Goa and for ourselves as Goans.
