Fred mentioned some names of goanetters but missed me (ha, ha). Just in a nutshell or in a cotti, Merwyn came late for his scheduled 1 pm meeting that he proposed. He blamed his infant daughter for being late. He accepted his apology, and we also said thanks to his offer of a round of beers. Dr. Jose Colaco came late with Ben Antao, and I didn't meet him as I was watching Bogmalo vs Loutilim final in the indoor stadium. Bogmallo won on penalty tie-breaker after the teams drew 1-1 at full time and were tied at the regular penalty-kicks. Victor Albuquerque (one of the silent goanetters was there and he met some of us). Tim D'Mello was there but didn;t show at the BMX stall even though I told him goanetters were meeting at 3 pm. But Tim's goacom partner was there, and he left after meeting as he found the heat unbearable. he's getting old, I suppose. However, there was no time to sit and discuss issues that Merwyn said he would bring off. I think he wanted goanet admin team to end some threads that become too long. I too feel that the admin team must step in to cut off the long arguments which seem to end back at sqaure one. It was very hot and humid inside The Hangar, the venue for the event. I am told the crowd was much less than last year's. Perhaps, the heat kept people from coming. The cultural fare was keeping with the past years. Local talent, some of it mediocre and some promising. I think Viva Goa must go beyond local talent and have at least one noted performer from India or elsewhere. A Konkani singing star can add some zest to the show. Even before the show, many friends told me that I would not miss much if I hadn't extended my stay in Toronto. However, I wanted to meet many acquaintances who I hadn't seen in at least two or three years. It was good for me to reconnect.
