Besides the lack of presence of the Inspector at the various activities of the Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs the recent episode of not inviting and then not communicating the cancellation of the State Consumer Rights Day program in Margao by him came in for condemnation. The Forum is of the opinion that the Civil Supplies Inspector has failed in curbing the black marketing of kerosene in the Taluka by not conducting the mandatory inspection of the dealers records, stock registers, bill books and entries made in the consumers ration cards. The Forum took serious note of the Civil Supplies Inspector trying to bring political pressure to block his transfer on two earlier occasions as his stint in the Taluka as a Sub Inspector should have followed with a transfer after his promotion as a Inspector. The Forum has also decided to write to the Director of Civil Supplies Mr. Ashok Desai and the Secretary Civil Supplies Mr. R. P. Pal about the non co- operation of the Civil Supplies Inspector especially during the presentation of the Department stall at the Aprant Maand held at Navelim. The Forum is convinced that the consumer rights in the 30 odd villages will be further affected if such an inefficient officer continues to be at the helm of affairs of the Department in Salcete Taluka and therefore calls for his early transfer. Meanwhile the Forum has decided to undertake a vigorous campaign to visit all the ration shops and kerosene dealers in the village to get a first hand report of the grievances of the consumers with regards short supply of kerosene quota, non issuance of bills, surcharge on official price of Rs.9.45 per litre, wrong entries in the ration cards, denial of monthly quota and other related issues. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Press Release of Cuncolim Civic and Consumer Forum (CCCF) ----------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------ GOA CIVIC AND CONSUMER ACTION NETWORK ----------------------------------------------------------- promoting civic and consumer rights in Goa ----------------------------------------------------------- GOACAN Post Box 187 Margao, Goa 403 601 GOACAN Post Box 78 Mapusa, Goa 403 507 mailto: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ---------------------------------------------------------- _______________________________________________ Goanet mailing list [email protected] http://lists.goanet.org/listinfo.cgi/goanet-goanet.org
