Respected Madam,
The bold move of your Indian National Congress Party
Legislators in Goa on 31st July, 2006 on the
language/script issue (Marathi and Roman script) is
well taken and appreciated.
If there is no vocal or written expression of this
appreciation thus far it is only because there is no
official communiqué yet from the Goa Government.
However rest assured that the votaries to this
amendment to the Goa Daman & Diu Official language Act
1987 will accept this as an excellent decision
slowly but surely and make it popular to Goans world
wide. Efforts will also be made to dispel the myths
that surrounded the language controversy since 1985.
For once Goans can rest assured that the divisive
forces will be put at rest and the uniqueness of Goan
Identity will be strengthened.
In particular it must be placed on record that this
political move, coming on the concluding day of the
monsoon session of the Goa Legislative Assembly was
indeed a Master stroke of our Chief Minister Mr
Pratapsing Raoji Rane to snub critics and
opportunists and undo the injustice of 19 years.
People of Goa now await formalizing the further steps
to pursue these decisions to its logical conclusion.
For a start an ordinance would be in order to place
the decision on the statute and finally passed at the
next session but before the Panchayat polls and State
Assembly polls.
