This issue has been repeatedly alluded to on Goanet. While I do not
put it above the armed forces to run amuck -- we're seeing incidents
being reported in conflict-prone places like the North East of India,
and Kashmir -- it would be interesting to know if anyone has specific
citations to back up the allegation of rapes supposedly committed in
Goa.
Would Eddie be able to dig up something, given his eagle-eye and
librarianship skills? How serious was this issue? How many cases were
reported? Or is it just part of the propaganda arsenel of the
'colonialism-started-in-Goa-in-1961' lobby?
Eitherway, it would be interesting to know the truth. Could someone
who lived in Goa in that era tell us? And don't say something like "I
know ghosts exist because my friend told me he saw one". FN
