Indian state bans Coke, Pepsi Last Updated Wed, 09 Aug 2006 13:01:50 EDT CBC News
A state in south India has banned the manufacture and sale of Coke, Pepsi, Sprite and other soft drinks, claiming they contain high levels of pesticide residues. The state of Kerala is the first in India to take such action against the local subsidiaries of Coca-Cola Co. and PepsiCo Inc., two bottlers that account for nearly 80 per cent of India's $2-billion US soft-drink market. Four other Indian states have already banned the sale of the soft drinks in schools, colleges and government offices, while several other states have said they are examining the issue. http://www.cbc.ca/story/business/national/2006/08/09/coke-wed.html _______________________________________________ Goanet mailing list [email protected] http://lists.goanet.org/listinfo.cgi/goanet-goanet.org
