JC is right when he says that attempted murder is different from murder In fact the IPC section is different for each offence. Recent example of pravin mahajn shows that he was charged with attempt to murder and after the senior mahjan succumbed to his injuries the section changed to murder.
Also the intent to kill is also a crime which comes under conspiracy to commit murder and has to be backed by evidence that the suspct indeed planned to commit murder.
