Without doubt, the issue of moral and religious codes has been a vigorous /
robust issue that we had fun debating. Yet the experience
brought to light several issues which may be for consideration and interest to
goanetters.

There were many good points brought out. I got an education about the
thought-processes of atheists and the many variations of individuals who do not
believe in the existence of God. This post is however not about the virtues of
this subject or about the dialogue.

Some of the posts were bastions of inefficiency, with finger- pointing.
Personality conflicts too often replaced productive debate. And a few seasoned
posters have now resorted to posts just to remind every one else of their
presence. Some have now started debating and writing in favor of issues which
they neither believe nor practice. This while informing the rest of us the
benefit and virtues of their perspective. And a few debated both sides of an
issue, like engaging in a child's play.

Our volunteer moderators do a great job of moderating the posts. Complaints
against them about censorship is nothing but a bogus argument from individuals
who cannot or refuse to write coherent post.

Merely insulting individual (s) is a poor substitute to writing intelligently
with substance. Some individuals circle the drain with gratuitous posts
because they cannot get their thoughts together. And a few drag old friends or
enemies or recall old posts totally unrelated to the topic under dialogue. As
some of us do, these post are not worth the dignity of a response. Yet, if
persistent, the moderators should take strong action against those who bring
past grudges into a current dialogue, thus vitiating the topic and atmosphere
for all other participants.

At best, reading posts that don't add much to a productive dialogue waste
valuable time. At worst, these posts foster incivility and dysfunction under
which no group can survive and be productive.
Regards, GL
