Mr Sandip Jacques must be joking, because I havent seen any lifeguard
at Benaulim beach for the past 10 years.  If the Goa lifeguards go on
strike, it doesnt make an iota of a difference in this part of the
world.  There is an empty lifeguard stand at the beach which is used
as a vantage point by visiting tourists.  Sometimes the locals use the
stand when having their beer and sandwiches. Somebody of the tourism
dept. must have made a lot of money while ordering these fibre glass
stands to decorate our beaches, some years ago.

Just today, I had to request 4 tourists to get out of the sea, and
explain to them that 2 people had drowned in Colva yesterday and
another 2 at Varca the day before.

Life in Goa goes on, the drownings continue unabated........
