Gilbert Lawrence wrote that HIS reaction to an atheist is "benign neglect". It is no different as towards someone who smokes, divorced, lives a homosexual life style or cheats on their spouse. What they do is their problem.

All he says (in effect) is that he (Gilbert Lawrence) would IGNORE an atheist, as also someone who smokes, divorced, lives a homosexual life style or cheats on his spouse. With whom Gilbert chooses to associate, and who he chooses to ignore, I submit, is Gilbert's right.
