Mr Floriano, Please remember that Marathi is not an alien language to the people of Goa. There is a sizeable population both in North and South Goa, who have been using Marathi to express themselves. And this includes not just Hindus, but also Christians and Muslims.
In many villages in Pernem Taluk you will meet Christians who not just read, write and speak Marathi but several of them sing Bhajans, Abhangas, etc. in Marathi. Several Goans, B. B. Borkar, Laxmanrao Bhembre, Sardessai, S S Desaai, Ibrahim Afgan, Prsad Savkar, Master Dattaram, the Mangeshkars, Jeetendra Abhisheki, Ajit Kadkade, Mogubai Kurdikar, Kishori Amonkar, Varsha Usgaokar, Damu Kenkre, Ashok Saraf and many more have greatly contributed to Marathi literature, music and stage. As such your argument that Marathi is an alien and should be wiped out from Goa does not hold any strength. Please count the number of Marathi publications emanating from Goa to gauge the popularity and acceptibility of Marathi in Goa. I am not any waadi ( such as Konkaniwaadi, marathiwaadi, etc.). I enjoy Konkani, Marathi, Portuguese, English and all other languages. Language is a medium of positve expression and spreading love and is not something to spread hatred. One should try to get the comprehensive picture and understand ground realities along the length and breadth of Goa before expressing views. Any village in South or North Goa cannot be considered as a representative model of Goa.
