Hi Goanetters, Here are 2 interesting links I came across today which are relevant to discussions on Goanet in the recent past:
'Like every human being, I have many identities' - The Rediff Interview with Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen http://in.rediff.com/news/2006/aug/18inter.htm Why doesn't America believe in evolution? http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=mg19125653.700 ----------------- On a seperate note, as FN has clarified the "no anonymity" rule, I have decided to comply with Goanet rules and sign off with my full name. Active Goanetter Sunith Velho ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) and silent Goanetter Maria Menezes ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) can vouch for its authenticity, if asked to do so. The reason I was initially reluctant to volunteer my full name is that Goans are typically inclined to make sweeping judgements about one's affiliations merely on his/her family name, and automatically assume that one shares the same opinions as that of his/her immediate and extended family and vice-versa. This has happened to me one too many times in person, and I hope this will not be the case online. Cheers, Aristo Xavier Coutinho (de Salcete). Bangalore. PS. Fred, don't you think that this "no anonymity" rule is unconstitutional? _______________________________________________ Goanet mailing list [email protected] http://lists.goanet.org/listinfo.cgi/goanet-goanet.org
