Hi Gilbert, I think Santosh and the gang is just over reacting to what you said about atheists, smokers and people who cheat. I , on the other hand, think you are on to something here, and would love for you to elaborate with your long and thoughtful responses to these few questions. These are not Yes or No answer questions, as you have made it clear that I would think of you as a sucker otherwise, and that is certainly not so.
Q1) What is immoral about benevolent atheist/agnostic, that is, if it is not an "oxymoron" (your current favorite word) ? Do you have a benign neglect towards atheists like Helen Keller, Abraham Lincoln, Benjamin Franklin, George Bernard Shaw, Jawaharlal Nehru, John Stuart Mill? Why? Q2) What is immoral about smokers who smoke in private, and do not affect the health of others but themselves? Q3) What is immoral about divorcee's who come to mutual and amicable agreement of seperation (considering equal custody of the children)? Q4) What is the moral equivalence of the above three people, who do not hurt anybody else, to the people who cheat on their partner, thus hurting the partner? Q5) Why is it only theists can be moral and atheists cannot be? Eagerly awaiting your reply. Don't feel inhibited to write a long one. The longer, the better. Thanks. Cheers, Aristo. _______________________________________________ Goanet mailing list [email protected] http://lists.goanet.org/listinfo.cgi/goanet-goanet.org
