Dear Helga, Thank you for raising the "Goaspora" white flag. Since we are into copyrighting words, I thought I'd get in a few of my own. I don't want Prince Jacob emailing me and complaining that he can't rhyme my words with any Konkani words. So I chose one that rhymes with every Shasti word, as all our words end in "a".
Ever since I found out that Goans in Goa find advice from Goasapora (I have to use my own word as frequently as possible to give it mileage) patronising, I have refrained from writing any post about current events in Goa. Instead, I am now limiting my posts to personal experiences and insulting my family. Unfortunately, I am now under investigation from the American Association of Pediatricians for maternal incompetence. What's more all the Catholics on Goanet are threatening to sue me on behalf of the Catholic Church and my father. In order to avoid this controversy, I thought I'd write a post on dogs in Goa. But I've put that idea in the kennel. Apparently the rights and feelings of dogs are strictly protected in Goa by NGOs. Next year a separate branch may open up to shelter stray cats and field mice. Goans in Goaspora, were not on the list of protected species. So I am working on a post about frogs (also known as Jumping Chicken at Johnnie's Bar & Restaurant).
