According to the Mapusa police, the infant was abandoned in a verandah of a house under construction in Faz Colony. Police disclosed that the neighbours awoke when they heard a baby crying and added that one Nitesh Pandit saw the child and informed them.
Police later conducted the panchanama and brought the infant to Asilo Hospital in Mapusa from where it was shifted to GMC hospital, Bambolim. The case was later registered against the unknown mother of the infant. However, according to reliable information, the infant was left at the doorstep of the person who allegedly sired the child.
