I am interested to learn more about this register of NRI of Goan origin. For instance, what would be its stated purpose? The last thing one wants is to be the target of unrelenting marketing. The second question that arises is who would have access to this database? One wonders how much legal recourse under the Data Protection Act (one assumes such an act exists in India) in the event of infractions of the act. While Non Resident Goans are rooting for Goa/India and want to give as much help as one can, one is understandably cautious. Watertight guarantees (and how these would be maintained)- that data provided by NRIs would not fall into the wrong hands would have to be provided and a watchdog established to ensure that breaches do not occur.
