. Last July I wrote to all our Ambassadors and High Commissioners
requesting them to inform us about Goans and persons of Goan Origin residing
in the countries to which they are accredited so that we could build a data
base of all NRGs and PGOs. We here received substantial information not
just about Goans in the better known countries of emigration but also of
Goans in lesser known destinations such as Sudan, Ethiopia and Egypt in
Africa, Kazakhstan, Vietnam and Syria in Asia, Finland and Hungary in
Europe, Argentina and Colombia in Latin America and Trinidad and Tobago in
the Caribbean. Further information keeps coming to us everyday from our
Missions in different countries. However, our Missions can provide us
information only about those Goans who have registered themselves at the
Embassy or High Commission. Most Indians, including Goans, do not do so
because they do not feel the need. A comprehensive website of this office
will be launched soon. In the meanwhile, all NRGs and PGOs are requested to
register themselves at our e-mail address

After obtaining sufficient data we intend to invite representatives of the
entire Goan diaspora to the next Overseas Goans Convention to be held here
early next January.
