GOA - Increasing Terrorist Threats & Security at Public Places

Almost every day, Goa terrorism related headlines appear on front pages of Goan
Newspapers.

Foll are randomly selected headlines:
-Intelligence officials confirm presence of LeT in Goa.
-Don Karim Lala’s nephew own a building in Calangute where terrorist took
shelter.
-Goa on alert as LeT may land arms by sea in October.
-Centre tells Goa to be on alert
-Alert in Goa
-Goa is high sensitive..
-Terrorist could strike Goa too
-Goa Airport put on high alert
-CM to Delhi to attend meeting to fine-tune the strategy to tackle Naxal
violence, to prevent
and combat terrorism
-Rane, Chief Secretary to attend meet on security at Delhi
-Be prepared for new age terror, PM tells CMs
-Goa Police on high alert. (Today’s news, after Malegaon (Maharstra) blasts
killing over 38)

It seems pretty obvious that terrorist will strike Goa too.
What we don’t know is WHEN and WHERE ?

Is the Goa Govt. taking this seriously ?
Is the Goa Govt. fully prepared for this ?

I know one cannot absolutely avoid terrorist strikes etc but at least one can
take precautions
where ever possible & necessary as
‘á stitch in time saves nine’

One of the areas, which immediately come to mind is Kala Academy Auditorium or
A/C hall where
one can see a total neglect by the Govt. authorities.

Most Tiatr run house full which means over 1000 people inside (including
artists, band/stage
members and standing spectators).

One could see..
 - The hall is 'open to all' just before or after the interval.
 - People coming in bag full of food stuff (hand bags, brown paper bags etc)
before the tiatr
start, during the tiatr and during and after the interval time. Restrictions
are there to keep
the auditorium clean &tidy but not strictly adhered to.
(Any one can come inside with bags, all he/she has to pay is Rs.60 and after
interval pay
nothing. And such bags could contain anything. It could be even bomb or
explosives).
- When house full, up to 100 seen standing in the corridors and some even seen
sitting on the
dummy windows inside the auditorium. Don’t know why such ticket less people
allowed in.
Perhaps, they are the friends and family of the tiatrists or organizers or KA,
if so, some
seats should be reserved to such people before throwing open ticket sale to
general public.

Like every body else, we too don’t want to die. Not this way.

I am also copying this to Kala Academy and its Chairman Our CM Pratapsingh Rane
etc. Hope
they go through their emails regularly.

When it comes to security, it looks like more importance is given only to
areas like Airport
and other tourist spots neglecting us- the general public. As if we don’t have
a right to
live. As if the above 1000 figure is negligible

Hope some sense prevails.

This is just one of the many areas/Govt.builings in Goa, where terrorist could
use as
potential targets.

Following may also interests you:
- Most people (including us) complains that Air condition set to very low
cooling inside the
hall during the tiatr but it is OK or cooler during IFFI shows and other
Marathi Drama/Natok..
- Some last rows do not get cooling at all.
- When hall is packed to the capacity or nearly full, it gives very bad
odour/smell of public
perspiration (due to not enough cooling inside may be, if that is so, all the
door should be
left open during the interval time for fresh air circulation).
- The auditorium sometime runs continuously from 10am to midnight when there
are three tiatr
or shows/functions one after another. i.e. 1030am, 3pm and 7.30pm
- The canteen at KA, due to security reasons, should be located within
enclosed premises
(like in multiplexes) so that only the ticket holders and other members of KA
etc use the
facility.
- House full Tiatr also mean (for the shows at 7.30pm) over 175 four wheelers
and over 150
two wheelers in the car park.
