Indeed, we can discuss "until the cows come home" as Edwin Fernandes said and not arrive at any solution. Just briefly and finally (unless you have some other comment which I would welcome) 1. I gave my observations without too much in-depth analysis of how the various problems arose and certainly not with intent that they should be abolished on the spot. I merely noted the increase in the number of slums in Goa since my visit there many years ago, how noticeable this has become. I did not talk about abolishing these slums. 2. Subsequently, when I was called "elitist" for my wording about slums in Goa because I had mentioned their negative effect on Goa, I responded that slums should be abolished all over India, meaning that Goa should not have special and preferential treatment. This was in the context of a thought provoking and general discussion about why slums arise and who benefits from them and not about my original observations on Goa. It was confusing to link the article on slums in Assam and the slums in Goa. It was confusing to link the slums in Goa and my general sentiments on slums in India as a whole, which I feel should no longer exist in today's wealthy India.
