The Save Goa Front has welcomed Urban Development
Minister Mr. Joaquim Alemao's decision to abandon
Bainguinim as the site for a garbage disposal plant.
Mr. Alemao has informed the Front that Bainguinim was
being abandoned keeping in mind the wishes and
protests of the local people and as the proposed area
was also of religious and heritage importance.
The Save Goa Front appreciates Chief Minister
Pratapsingh Ranes role in opposing Bainguinim and
also acknowledges Transport Minister Pandurang
Madkaikar and Deputy Speaker Mrs. Victoria for their
support in opposing a garbage disposal plant in the
vicinity of an upcoming settlement zone and area of
religious, historical and heritage importance.
The Front also thanks the Sarpanches of Old Goa,
Chimbel, Merces and Santa Cruz for having stood very
firm in opposing the garbage disposal site in their
vicinity and the residents of Ribandar and the
neighbouring villages for the very firm resolve not to
allow the garbage disposal plant at Baiguinim.
