Dear Goanetters,
I have observed over the past few weeks not with a little concern, that the
Goanet is fast becoming very controversial and distasteful. Is this the purpose
of this beautiful medium, to provoke, to condemn, to hate, to incite?
I'm particularly perturbed over articles denouncing someone's religion/
beliefs, the superiority of one language over the other, the political
intonations, the near palpable vitriol being spewed on someone's alternate
sexual orientations, ridiculing sculptures of World Heritage Monuments and the
crass reference to "taking great pleasure piddling on Frank Moraes, as a baby"
was gross to say the least. That the last bit was penned by a fellow Stanislite
(from Bandra) hurts all the more.
It saddens me that just about anyone is permitted to pen just about anything
without the Editor filtering or censoring material. I have almost made up my
mind albeit reluctantly, to stop browsing the Goanet. I'm sure many others
will follow suit. So before we take this drastic step, can the Editor put a
stop to this madness please?
