Hello All: In preparation for our meeting on Sunday, October 01, at 3:00pm at St. Francis Xavier's Church Hall, there are a few things we need to ascertain.
First of a brief synopsis of the initiative. To purchase a suitable property and run the same as the Canadian Goan Centre as a BUSINESS INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITY. Only SERIOUS investors who believe in this project should consider participating. The investors in the project will be called members of the Centre. The goals of the group are to develop the property to a high standard so that there will no problem renting the hall, board rooms, party rooms and offices. The CASH BAR will operate daily for Members and guests. Membership can be extended to members of G.O.A., SENIORS CLUBS and VILLAGE ASSOCIATIONS if they are investors in the project. Any groups investing in the project will be represented by only one representative. Each share holding will have the privilege of one vote. A group holding, say three shares, will have three votes allotted to its representative. Conditions for membership to the Group after the Corporation has been formed will be defined by the Board of Directors. There will be no special membership privileges afforded to any investors for the first five years at least. The Agenda attached is being suggested for the meeting. A very preliminary layout of what the Centre could look like is shown on the attachment. The floor layout is based on the property currently available at Coopers Ave. One of the first orders of business after selecting a Chairperson for the meeting on Sunday is to define the initial steps in the process for securing a Canadian Goan Centre. The initial steps are seen as the following: 1. Elect a Steering Committee of no more than five individuals to move the project to the next stage. The offices will be Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, Public Relations Liaison 2. The next few stages are seen as (not necessarily in the order shown): formation of an incorporated company (e.g. Canadian Goan Centre Inc.) Arrange for the election of the officers of the Company put a conditional offer on a property that the Committee considers appropriate for our needs. This could be done by the Steering Committee if deemed appropriate. obtain financing to purchase the property. This is to be done through the incorporated company. All shareholders will be kept fully informed of all steps either via formal meetings or via e-mail correspondence. All the above stages defined will need an expenditure of money and this money needs to be collected. In order to be able to proceed forward it is important that the number of people who have stated their desire to be part of this commercial enterprise (The Canadian Goan Centre) need to confirm their intention to participate. We need to determine the true level of support for this venture. For this, we need each of you to deposit 10% of the value of one shareholding with us. This is $500.00. This money, which is non-refundable, will be used to set up the incorporation and to pay any fees that are due. Only those who have confirmed their intention to participate in this venture through the deposit of the initial $500 will be given ballots to vote on motions raised at the meeting. i.e. only those who have paid will be allowed to make motions from the floor and vote. Your initial deposit can be mailed to: The Canadian Goan Centre 16-1375, Southdown Road, Suite 331, Mississauga Ontario, L5J 2Z1 Cheques are to be made out to: "The Canadian Goan Centre" Alternatively, cheques can be given at the meeting on October 01 and voting ballots will be given at that time. Please respond indicating if you will or will not be making the payment prior to the meeting on Sunday.
