Is it all over for Goa? Go Antonio Diniz, Fatorda Herald, Goa's complete online news edition
The views expressed by Soter D'Souza `Goans and addiction' give a frightening account of what is in store for Goans. It is an awakening call to all Goans. His quote " We Goans are hooked by money, power, sex, gambling and partly even religion" is absolutely correct at least for the present and on account of this, we have almost sold our land, bodies and souls to builders, drug peddlers, pimps and gamblers, for a few rupees more. The article sounds a deathknel to very existence of real Goa, which most true Goans dream and cherish. The views expressed in it, merit very serious introspection and demand prompt and effective action by all sane Goans irrespective of their culture, religion and political affiliation. The present state of affairs and laissez- faire attitude of Goans, of being silent spectators to all kind of nefarious and illegal activities taking place around us, in the name of development, progress and social well-being have nothing but vested interest. This is going to cause total destruction of Goa's identity and irreparable damage to culture and socio-economic fabric of Goa. The present system needs total overhaul and clean-up. Fortunately we have a democratic set-up and our level of education is sufficient enough to reflect and realise the need . It appears that so far we have not been able to use democracy to give us good governance, but time has come to use this powerful weapon to bring about a radical change to the system. It is possible but could be difficult, we need to be determined and united. The sooner the better, otherwise, all will be lost for ever. _______________________________________________ Goanet mailing list Goanet@lists.goanet.org http://lists.goanet.org/listinfo.cgi/goanet-goanet.org
