Hi Fred Thanks for your comments on the wisdom of cutting short some threads by the moderators without notice. I take your point about the problems of providing a deadline but am not sure that it would inevitably produce even more boring repetitious posts on a theme. I think I had in mind some advantages of rounding off a theme especially when posters were aiming to say something conclusive but just didn't get time to do so. To my mind, such concluding posts would probably enhance a theme rather than drag it down further.
However, you guys are the moderators and have much more experience on this issue than I have. In a sense, you have offered some indications about the likely issues on the topic of Goa during the Portuguese regime. I was not too keen to start this debate because I have already expressed some thoughts on this issue in the past. I am hopeful however, that others who have not engaged on this issue may be inclined to do so now. I am particularly interested, to learn about what is deemed to be positive about the Portuguese contribution to Goa as I am not sure I am clear about the answer from any contribution in a dispassionate kind of way. I also don't think a clear picture on this aspect has appeared on Goanet unless this happened before I became a member some four or five years ago.
