I don't think there was any need for this. George Pinto <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: --- Gilbert Lawrence wrote: > Last weekend we attended a Hindu wedding reception in our town in upstate New > York. The > reception was at the Country Club.
Next weekend I will attend a non-Hindu wedding in our village in downtown Aldona. The reception will not be at a Country Club. > Gracing the occasion were seven of eight grandparents of the bride and groom. > That was great. All eight grandparents want to attend next weekend's wedding in Aldona but cannot. They are dead but did enjoy the weddings they could attend when they were alive. > An American colleague said, "this was one of the best wedding celebration he > ever attended." He has not been to a wedding in Aldona, Goa. Now THAT is a celebration. > At the reception, the MC came to us and said, "Can I have the names of the > Bridal Party to be > introduced before the event starts." At next weekend's wedding in Aldona, the parents of the bride and groom married their spouses. In fact, all the couples at the wedding are married to their spouses. This is a happy commentary on modern eastern society (Goa). > I hope Indian / Goan society can learn for that experience. Yes, this is what we can learn: if you are going to marry, then marry your spouse. If your kids or grandkids are going to marry, try and stay alive to attend the wedding reception (but only if it is in Aldona). So now you know the truth.
