A delegation of the Save Goa Front on 11th October met Goas Director General Of Police Mr. B. S. Brar and demanded the immediate arrest of Goa Urban Development Minister Mr.Joaquim Alemao for his involvement in masterminding the pre-planned attack on the meeting which was organized by Save Goa Front last Sunday at White Hall, Cuncolim.
The delegation narrated to the DGP the sequence of events and protested against the failure of the Cuncolim Police to provide police bandabost at the meeting though they were fully aware that the attack on the meeting was being planned by the stooges of local MLA and Minister. Mr. Joaquim Alemao. The delegation gave the DGP names of individuals who created trouble at the meeting venue at the behest and on instructions of Mr. Joaquim Alemao and demanded action against them too. Those named are Mr. Ashok Phadte, Devendra Desai, Landry Mascarenhas and Cely Fernandes (all Cuncolim Councillors), Mr. Mario Moraes, a physical education teacher, Sagar Desai, a commuidade Employee, Swapnil Desai, Electricity department driver, Mr. Savio Coutinho, an MPT employee, Damian Almeida, a municipal employee, Mr. Daya Naik, a retired teacher, Mr. Gangesh Desai, Mr. Rohidas Desai, Mr. Manoj Desai, Mr.Rupak Naik, Mr. Shyam Shet Desai amongst others. The delegation also demanded action against the Cuncolim Police Inspector Mr. Sidhant Shirodkar and SDPO Mr. Tony Fernandes for failing to provide police protection at the meeting. The delegation demanded an immediate inquiry into the Police role in the episode for having acted as the henchmen of the ministers. DGP Brar gave the delegation a very patient hearing and assured to take immediate cognizance of the complaint given to him today by the Save Goa Front.
