Thereafter in 1648, Fr Bento Ferreira was appointed the first vicar of the church of Our Lady of Mercy at Colva and noticed that the image was emitting supernatural light and therefore kept it on the main altar of the church for public veneration. However, later the rector of Rachol Seminary took the statue of Menino Jesus from the church. Attempts to get the image back by the Colva people reportedly proved futile and it is learnt that a new statue was installed in the church on May 2, 1836 and the ring which belonged to the original image, that was reportedly found in the niche, was placed on its finger. Since then, the statue was venerated by the devotees with all faith as it had healing powers and lots of people proclaimed the miracles done by the image. Till today people come with the same faith and miracles continue to happen here after praying at the image. - Forwarded by www.goa-world.com Colva United Center (CUC) is all set once again to present their annual event "Colva Nite 2006" on November 9, 2006 at the Faker Eldeen Palace, Kuwait City from 9:00 p.m. onwards.
