I became acutely aware of how little even experienced oncologists knew about my specific form of cancer, and I was referred to others who had more experience in my form of cancer. Everyone on my treatment team looked at me as a human "guinea pig" without anyone actually saying so, as my experience would add to their existing sparse body of knowledge. > So, for anyone who hasn't figured it out already, for me this thread has been a personal affront. > I truly believe that Dr. Jayant and Gilbert will find little to disagree with on the treatment of cancers they have experience in. They would refer to other cancer specialists forms of cancer they are unfamiliar with. I know this for a fact because I went through this myself. I find it utterly reprehensible that others, who are unqualified to do so, are involved in personal attacks in a public forum on a subject they have little personal knowledge about, and no personal stake in. >
