Dear Sunith, Thank you for that very comprehensive and most interesting post. This puts things into their proper perspective. We are infact then not comparing intelligence but just the ability to cope with each country's modus operandi.
Personally, I feel we have a responsibility to society, to produce as many philosophers, musicians, film directors, painters as we have to produce engineers and doctors. The Indian system of education relies heavily on learning by rote, but the Western method encourages creativity in thought, conceptualising, innovating and forging new paths. Perhaps this is one reason why India is brilliant at working with technology but comparatively has a poor record in creating it first hand. By no means do I want to sound disrespectful of Indian intelligence. Of that, there is no doubt but under no circumstances can we delude ourselves into thinking that we are better than everyone else.
