Among today"s 21/10/2006 posts three of the Goanetters used the form,
"alumni" to mean a single ex-student. I had to rush to my weatherbeaten
dictionary to check upon the word and I found that "alumnus" is singular of
"alumni". There was however one Goanetter, and that was Selma who used it
correctly according to the dictionary.
Perhaps the plural can also be used with a singular meaning? Just asking.
