Two new titles by Third Millennium

Vivencias Partilhadas and The Third Culture are the latest titles due to be
released shortly by Panjim-based publishers, Third Millennium, the only
house in Goa publishing books in English and Portuguese.

The first is a collection of original short stories in Portuguese, authored
by Maria Elsa da Rocha, 82, from Aldona, now a resident of Miramar. A
primary school teacher by profession, Ms Rocha was regular presenter of
stories on the Portuguese programme "Renascenca", on the Panjim station of
All India Radio, a decade ago. Some of them were translated into English and
published in national newspapers and magazines.

The Third Culture, by Alberto de Noronha, 86, dwells on some important
aspects of the Indo-Portuguese cultural encounter in Goa. Mr Noronha's first
book, Onde o Moruoni Canta, a collection of Goan short stories in
Portuguese, translated by him from the Konkani, Marathi and English, was
published by Third Millennium in 2003. A Goa Government official, who
retired as Dy. Director of Statistics, Mr Noronha hails from Salvador do
Mumdo and now resides in Dona Paula.
