Are you sure you can use one case (which didn't either succeed, if we
go by Eugene's word for it) to reach such a broad conclusion? Didn't a
whole set of others have the holy ear of the Portuguese? What about
them? You could either see Pintos or Timojas, depending on the side of
history you want to be on. My point is that there are two (or many
