Dear Selma,
The correct Konkani word for Negro, according to the "Rajhauns" Eng-Konk
dictionary authored by Prakash Thali and edited by Damodar K Ghanekar
(Panjim, 2003), is KHAPRI (and not "Hampri"). The same dictionary gives plus
the following synonyms of "Negro": "Kalle katicho monis" (dark-skinned man)
and "Xid'di".
