Vasco LPG Consumers get organised for better service and safety

The LPG consumers of Vasco city serviced by Bharat Petroleum and
Hindustan Petroleum have submitted a memorandum to the Director of Civil
Supplies and Consumer Affairs Mr. Ashok N.P. Desai seeking Home Delivery,
Computerised Billing, Mechanical Checks and Safety Camps as per the
procedures of the public sector petroleum companies.
The consumers organised under the banner of Vasco Civic and Consumer Forum
(VCCF) have in their memo highlighted that many of the LPG consumers are yet
to get the full benefits of the services of the Petroleum Companies.
The LPG consumers are presently supplied cylinder refills by M/s Yashoda
Enterprises and M/s Goa Gas Service for Bharat Petroleum and M/s Gomantak
Trading Co and M/s Vasco Gas Service for Hindustan Petroleum.
The VCCF memo also pointed out that computerised bills were not provided to
all consumers. The safety of the consumer when using LPG cylinders could not
be ensured if regular safety checks of the tube, regulator and stove were
not undertaken by a qualified Company mechanic at the residence of the
consumer.
The memo further pointed out that there were many cases wherein domestic LPG
cylinders are diverted and supplied for commercial purposes such as welding
workshops, pantry cars of the trains, fast food kiosks and even in motor
vehicles as a fuel, due to which there is a short supply for the genuine
domestic consumers.
The Forum has also written to the Mamlatdar Mormugao Taluka while copies
of the memo have been sent to Mr. Sanjay Karve Executive Sales Officer LPG
of HP Gas and Mr. M. Vishnu Raj Assistant Manager (Sales) Bharat Gas,
State Level Co-ordinator (SLC) Sr. Regional Manager (LPG) Hindustan
Petroleum Corp. Ltd, Chief Territory Manager (LPG), Bharat Petroleum Corp.
Ltd. and GOACAN.
