Hi Everyone,
Finally it wamed the cockles of my Goenkar/Velkar heart to hear that we had
an outstanding Colaco in soccer named Moses Colaco from Velim. Was he a
zonnkar or not ? Was he from the Colaco clan near the Velim church area or
was he from Carxeta, Velim ? We need more granularity ! May his soul R.I.P.
Best Regards,
Dr.Carmo D'Cruz
Shastikar, Proud Velkar,
Even More Proud to be a Goenkar !
Indian Harbour Beach, Florida.

Ex-footballer Moses passes away
PANJIM: Moses Colaco, a player, captain, team manager, sponsor and coach for
Assolna Velim Cuncolim Football Club in Dubai died of a massive heart attack
in Dubai while attending a parish get together on October 27, 2006. Moses
hailing from Velim started his football career playing for Pune University.
He had a knack of scoring goals and accounted for nine goals for Pune
University thrashing Jalgaon by 15 goals. Moses represented Pune University
from 1966 to 1969. He also attended the trials for the Indian team for
Olympic qualifying round. (When his family shifted to Tanzania, he joined
Dar Wanderers and then the popular young Rovers.) He left for Dubai in 1973.
He obtained his football coaching licence from USA Soccer Federation FIFA
Washington. Moses and his son Kevin established a unique record in 1996 when
father and son played in the first eleven for AVC. Kevin is a qualified
engineer and also plays soccer in USA. Moses (born on September 2, 1947),
leaves behind his wife Dency and children Kevin and Trudy. [GT]
