Hi Bernardo
Like Kevin, I am ashamed of sentiments like yours that want to privelege
Catholic Goans over Hindu Goans in an open-ended discussion about something
called ABCs in the Gulf region. Are we not, Hindu, Christian or Muslim, all
brothers as Gandhi once supposedly said? Of course, today, Gandhi would
probably include the group he inadvertantly missed out--the atheists who are
probably the least bigotted of the lot.
It is difficult to believe that there are dinosaurs among Catholic Goans who
may not even realise that they may be bigotted and also fail to see that
there is a historical process of mainstreaming of Goa into India despite the
historical blip of 451 years of Portuguese rule.
But of course, as so inclined, you could have slowed down this process by
being at the coal face in Goa and not in some far away former Portuguese
outpost!

PS Incidentally, there is no University of Peckham, as you implied once,
among the 125 or so State run universities in the UK. Maybe you have been
watching rather a lot of Only Fools and Horses on TV--nevertheless, an
excellent comedy serial in its own right.
