The 15th Taekwondo State Championships were organized by the Taekwondo
Association of Goa, under the auspices of the Taekwondo Federation of India
on 28th and 29th October 2006 at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Multipurpose
Hall, Fatorda, Margao-Goa. Around 750 participants of boys and girls teams
participated in different weight categories which included Sub-Juniors,
Juniors and Seniors.
In all, 56 gold, 56 silver and 112 bronze medals were awarded to the
winners. Furthermore trophies were handed out for the first three positions
and for the best team performance in both boys and girls categories.
We are pleased to announce that Lysha Fernandes, daughter of Cypriano and
Connie Fernandes from Dongorim, Nuvem, won a gold medal as well as a shield.
She bagged the gold medal in the sub-juniors category. She did us proud
once again. She is a student of Presentation Convent Margao, Goa, studying
in class IX.
She leaves for Haryana along with other members of the Goan team in the
second week of November 2006 to participate in the 24th National Sub-Junior
Boys and Girls Taekwondo Championship.
