Dear Gilbert, I certainly to not attribute Goa's ills to the "bhaile" as you call it. Infact, I have never used the term "bhaile", to describe migrant workers. These workers are filling their empty stomachs as is any human beings right to do so. I have nothing but respect for them as individuals and human beings. If you must know, I will never haggle with a street vendor or a casual labourer. I will always pay asking rate for any services I avail off and if it is within my means I generally tip a whole days wages in addition. It's the least I can do because but for the grace of fate go I.
Yes, I do believe unmitigated migration of people into Goa will ruin Goa, but that discussion has been exhausted and I have nothing more to add to it. If there are ills perpetuated in Goa, it is Goans and Goans themselves to blame. I feel a lot of it has to do with our education system, which has to be far more pervasive and bring into its ambit the type of solid education which will churn out citizens that herald the type of change required to catapult Goa into the 21st century. I totally agree with you though, that each of us as Goans who are in a position to do something however little must set about doing it. selma --------------------------------------------- --- Gilbert Lawrence <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Selma wrote about the many social ills of > contemporary Goans. > To which generation does she attributes those ills? > > Is it the bhaile that she blames Goa's ill for?
