RETRO DINNER & DANCE on 02 December
After successfully launching the "Sahashtapoorti" [completion of 60 years of life] celebrations of St.Britto High School with a 'Thanksgiving Service' attended by present and former Principals, staff and students on 30 July as also adding 'Spectator Stands' sponsorred by GENO Pharmaceuticals and renovating the school's football ground, the BRITTO'S Old Boys Association is in a mood to celebrate the camaraderie with a book written by former students and an event named DINE,DANCE & MORE . The date is set for Saturday, 02 December, 2006, the long week-end that ends with the feast of the founder-member of the Society of Jesus and the first Jesuit to set foot in Goa to win the hearts of all, the Goencho Saib St.Francis of Xavier, Spain. The venue is SEVERINA GARDENS, on the Siolim main road at the outskirts of Mapusa. The band CASCADES will play foot-tapping and dancing music from 8 P.M. onwards.The Audio system is provided by Raul Sound. Fellow alumni and singer of repute, Sigmund de Souza, will lend his voice and music to take the event a few notes higher and in retrospect. Earlier, from 5.00 P.M. onwards the children and adults can see how they would look if they were thinner or stouter. Basil Dias will instal his "Magic Mirrors" at the venue for a magic preview of the things to come. One can add spice to it with face painting or balloon sculptures created on the spot by TODD'S Balloons. Augustine/Reggie, the Magician, will perform the Magic Show. Snacks and beverages will be served free to the children during this time. The Entry Coupons, inclusive of snacks and buffet dinner, are available at Mapusa Service Station [Carvalho's Petrol Pump], Mapusa, for Guests @Rs.300/- per head towards the cost of dinner and snacks. Beverages will be available at nominal prices. The entertainment is our gift to you. This is not a fund raising event although contributions to the Britto's OBA 'Projects Fund' are always welcome. For children [5 years to SSC] coupons will be @ Rs.150/-, while children below 5 years age are free. Britto's OBA members and spouse are eligible for special coupons@ Rs.200/-, and for their children @ Rs.100/-. Eligible persons[BOBs] can enrol by contacting Fr.Cecil Fernandes,SJ, at St.Britto High School or Kenneth D'Souza at Syndicate Bank, Panaji, for forms and entry coupons. Fees may be paid by local cheque drawn in favour of Britto's OBA a/c 2204140. Life and Patron Membership fees will be capitalised and go to the 'Corpus Fund' to perpetually sustain the alumni association through bank interest there on. A compilation of 'true life' stories by former students of their days in St.Britto HS, from 1946 onwards, in the form of the book "BRITTO'S RETRO: Voices and Notes in All Octaves" will be released at the event. Bonifacio Carrasco, who studied in Sacred Heart School from 1944 through the take-over by the Jesuits in 1946 to his SSC in 1951 is alive, a member of the Britto's OBA, a contributor to the book and will be present at the release function and dinner that follows. Britto Old Boys, from the 1950s onwards till 2006, will be at the event that promises to revive the latent fraternal bonds of friendship and camaraderie among fellow alumni like never before. The event has been meticulously planned by the Britto's OBA ad hoc committee to provide the right ambience to re-connect with the past while preparing for the future with the theme T.E.A.M....Together Everyone Achieves More. On Sunday 19 November, Fr. Anthony D'Silva will have his first formal interaction with the alumni of St.Britto High School, whether members of the Britto's OBA or not.
