Konknni Tiatrists from Goa, celebrate "Feast of St. Cecilia'
Konknni Tiatrists, from all over Goa, came together on the 22nd of November 2006,to celebrate the feast of St. Cecilia (Patroness of all Musicians and Performing Artists ). Fr. Leonardo Moraes, Parish Priest of Navelim Church, celebrated the Mass at 9.30 am in the Rosary Church (Navelim ) and was ably supported by a "Choir of Tiatrists", especially prepared for the occasion. Many Tiatrists, young and old, attended the Mass. Fr. Leonardo Moraes, in his homily, praised the the good work, being done by the Tiatrists . He, however, advised them, that every Tiatr, must propagate the word of God. It is only by doing this, that we can pay back to God for the wonderful gift of " Stage-Art", gifted to us by him, said Fr. Moraes. Fr Moraes, further emphasized the need, to always keep "focused" on the message of truth, when producing a Tiatr, and not to let the message of truth be "pushed behind" by laying too much focus on the "comedy aspect" of the Tiatr. Laughter is OK, while in the Hall, but it is the "message of truth' that has to be taken home by the viewers, said Fr. Moraes. After the Mass, it was a an atmosphere of joy & happiness outside the Rosary Church, with Tiatrists of all age-groups, wishing each other 'A Happy Feast ". Osvy Viegas (President of the K.N.S.T.S) thanked Fr. Moraes, well wishers, Donors and Tiatrists who attended the Mass. This, was then followed, by the entire group of Tiatrists, moving to the Office of the K.N.S.T.S, in Navelim itself, where again, a short prayer of " Thanksgiving" which was then followed by distribution of snacks, soft-drinks and a "sumptuous' lunch. The Gen. Secretary of the K.N.S.T.S, Mr. Mario de Vasco, gave a short speech and requested the Tiatrists present , to take a little more interest in the affairs of the Sounvstha. Comedian Peter D'Costa also spoke and requested more unity among all the Tiatrists. Mr Wilson Mazarello (Convenor, Romi Lipi Action Front) then, read out an "invitation" from Shri. Churchill Alemao (M.P..South-Goa ) to all the Tiatrists, for a "get together" on the 30th of November 2006 at Furtado's Restaurant, Sernabatim - Colva, at 7pm to discuss on how best to get "Official Recognition to the Roman Script".This " invitation" by MP Shri Churchil Alemao, for such a 'noble cause" was received by all, with a thundering applause. Every Tiatrist present, felt that Roman-Script was a 'cause' for which, all other professional-differences must be kept aside, and all Tiatrists, should fight unitedly.
